Sillage: A Story Told Through Scent, Time, and Empathy

Sillage: A Story Told Through Scent, Time, and Empathy

What if a single fragrance could transport you to another place... another time... another life?

That question inspired Sillage, our newest short film created for the 2026 Louisville 48 Hour Film Project. Written, filmed, edited, and completed in just 48 hours, Sillage is a fantasy that blends mystery, perfume, and human connection into one unforgettable experience. The 48 Hour Film Project challenges filmmakers to create an entire film in a single weekend using assigned story elements and a randomly selected genre.

The film follows a group of friends whose ordinary evening takes an extraordinary turn after discovering an antique perfume bottle. As the fragrance fills the air, they're transported into a world where they become the outsiders—forcing them to experience what it truly means to be the "fish out of water." At its heart, Sillage is about empathy, acceptance, and remembering to treat others with kindness because we never know what journey someone else is living.

As the founder of KULLI Atelier, perfume has always been more than fragrance to me. It's memory, emotion, identity, and storytelling. Sillage is where my love of filmmaking and perfumery meet, creating a story that asks: Can a scent change the way we see the world?
